Black Chasm Cavern

One thing I absolutely love about homeschooling is going on field trips with my children. This past Monday we took a drive to Black Chasm Cavern in Volcano, CA with a group of homeschoolers. It was a bit intimidating entering the mouth of the cave and I had to keep my anxiety contained. However, as we descended into the cavern and it opened up (and we got closer to ground level, 90 feet down,) I relaxed and was able to enjoy the view. It was quite majestic with all the stalactites and stalagmites. It even contained many helictites, which only occur in less than 5% of caves is the world. We had an excellent cavern guide.
