Multiplication

Here is Jacob working on multiplication this morning. We received these wipe-off mats from Vera's mom. They are great teaching tools, and fun for the kids to use. Here's a neat trick for teaching "9 times" facts: hold up all ten fingers, and whatever digit you are multiplying 9 by, tuck that finger down (ex: for 9x7, hold down the 7th finger.) The fingers to the left of the down finger represent tens, and the fingers to the right represent the ones. It works for every 9-times fact and has helped my kids with what would otherwise be tricky multiplication problems.
