Stitches

Last summer Forrest and I made the well-thought-out decision to purchase a large trampoline with safety net to replace the mid-sized one we had in our yard before. I believe a trampoline is a good investment when you have kids, as it gets them outside, is a great source of exercise, can be used year-round, and is especially fun to sleep on in the summer. It makes for some great childhood memories. Well, apparently our kids get a little too much use out of their trampoline, because the net was falling apart in several places.

Forrest had the genious idea a couple weeks ago to sew it up with some kite string and a tapestry needle. He and Ashlee started the work, which was very tedious. It required inserting the needle every few squares on the net and looping it back through to create a "stitch," if you will. It could easily take 30 minutes or longer to sew an area of six inches.

Being that we had several feet of tears, they both tired before the job was done. I got tired of looking at that eye-sore out my kitchen window, and finally decided to finish it off myself.

The kids are very happy to have their trampoline back in commission.

  1. What fun! It makes we wish we had room in the yard for a trampoline. My cousins had one when I was a kid and it definitely made some great memories!
